For the Bisquick Dumplings:
- 2 cups Bisquick mix
- ⅔ cup milk
- ½ tsp garlic powder (optional, for extra flavor)
- 1 tsp parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
1️⃣ Prepare the Chicken Stew
- Sauté the Vegetables: In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat butter over medium heat. Add diced onion, carrots, and celery. Cook for 5 minutes until softened.
- Add Garlic & Seasonings: Stir in minced garlic, salt, pepper, and thyme. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Thicken the Broth: Sprinkle flour over the vegetables, stirring continuously for 1-2 minutes to form a roux.
- Add Liquids & Chicken: Slowly pour in chicken broth and milk while stirring. Add shredded chicken and bring to a gentle simmer for 10 minutes.
2️⃣ Make the Dumplings
- Prepare the Dough: In a mixing bowl, combine Bisquick mix and milk. Stir gently until a soft dough forms.
- Form Dumplings: Drop spoonfuls of dough (about 1 tbsp each) onto the simmering stew.
- Cover & Cook: Cover the pot with a lid and cook for 15 minutes (do NOT stir during this time).
- Check for Doneness: Dumplings should be firm on the outside but soft and fluffy inside.
3️⃣ Serve & Enjoy
- Ladle into bowls and sprinkle with fresh parsley for garnish.
